Almerindo has gained over 20 years' worth of experience in information and cyber security, ranging from developing one of the first university-level Masters programmes in the UK in 2005 up to security consultancy and strategic advisory for private and government organizations across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
Al is the CEO of Silensec, an ISO 27001 certified international information security technology and consulting firm and the Global Chairman of HLB Digital, a brand of HLB International where he leads the development of HLB cybersecurity and digital services globally. Silensec is currently headquartered in Cyprus with offices in the UK, Kenya, Canada and soon in the USA and Ireland.
Al is a cyber security expert for the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) where, since 2014, he has contributed to the delivery of regional and worldwide Cyber Drills and workshops for national CERTs and governments. Al was the technical coordinator of the ITU 2020 Global Cyber Drill with focus on cyber-attacks and simulation scenarios development.
Al is the co-founder of CYBER RANGES, a next-generation cyber range platform for large-scale immersive training and cyber resilience building exercises. He is also the Co-Chair of the Working Group WG5 on Cyber Range environments and technical exercises at the European Cyber Security Organization (ECSO). A pre-COVID19 era avid airmiles collector, Al is a keen long-haul motorbiker and a proud dad.
